A beautifully dressed bed is the focal point of your bedroom. The colors, patterns and styles are unending. There is something to please everyone.
If your current bedding is hitting the 7-year-old mark, you're most likely due for some new bedding. Worn, faded, ripped bedding is not very inviting to slip into at the end of the day.

While you may cringe at the prices, you can get some great deals on Bed-in-a-Bag items. Some of them even come with the sheets! You can get over the "wow, this is expensive" mantra by realizing just how many years you've used your old bedding. Time for some math.
You see a set that has everything (comforter, dust ruffle, shams, sheets, decorative pillows). Let's say it's $200.00. For the average, middle-class homeowner, you think that's a lot of money to spend on bedding. Well, not really. First look at all your getting for the $200.00. Second, even if it's not this large a set, divide that $200.00 by the 7 years people typically keep their bedding - that's about $28.58 a year. Is it expensive now?

These pictures show just a few collections from Eastern Accents, a To-The-Trade company. Eastern accents offers custom bedding, as well as some Quick Ship items. A visit to their website will have you drooling over their offerings. If nothing else, they will provide you with some inspiration.

To be fair to the boys, here's one for their room.

You can get an extravagant look on a budget too. Just look at all the pictures - the "look" is in the pillows, the way the bed is made and, in some cases, the layering. The pictures below show bedding from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Some of the patterns are similar to the more expensive ones shown above.

Add decorative pillows as shown; maybe drape a throw, light blanket or quilt that coordinates with the bedding (even if it's a solid) over the bottom corner of the bed. Mix up patterns and solids.

Beautiful post Kathy! Love all the photos you picked. My bedding is fairly new and you made me want to change it :))
Hi Wendy ~ Thanks! I love many of the new bedding patterns and colors that are out, and there are so many budget friendly choices.
Kathy, I love changing the look of my bedroom by just changing the comforter and bed ruffle....I have so many sets and love all the different looks through the year. Once you have them, they last forever and always look great.
What beautiful bedding Kathy! I am ready for a change and have certainly been inspired!
What a great way to present the cost of purchasing new bedding... by a per month cost if you keep it 7 years. Thanks!
Hi Carole ~ Sometimes it can be as simple as changing out a dust ruffle, yet it can make a big difference in the look of you bed.
Sheila ~ Thank you! I got a new set almost two years ago (a solid) and I've been changing it up by changing out the decorative pillows - keeps it (and me) from feeling static.
Cathy ~ I think it helps it to not seem as expensive if you think about how long you keep it and divide it up over the average years. Thanks for commenting!
I love looking at bedding, so I thoroughly enjoyed your post, Kathy. I love how reasonably priced new bedding sets can be. And when you think how much time we spend in bed it is a very worthwhile investment to have bedding that both looks and feels good. I am ready for a change in my own master bedroom and now you've got me thinking. Thanks for sharing all the photos!
Mary ~ Thanks for visiting and commenting! I love bedding too, although it comes down through my love of fabric. There are (especially now) some great prices and sales out there, so this would be the time to get that new bedding!
Pleasant dreams indeed Kathy! I love your photos of the luxurious bedding and what it can do for the look/feel of a bedroom.
Hi Kathy, I really, really love that bedding by Eastern Accents. Yeah cool kid orange for me!
Michele ~ I like making up my bed like these pictures at home. Of course, it's another story to keep my hubby from tossing the pillows off onto the floor at night!
Hi Cynthia ~ Eastern Accents has some really nice stuff. I just got some information from another luxury bedding supplier (also To The Trade only) that I'm going to check out. Sometimes I like to look at the pictures and see if I can find something very close or similar to what I like at Home Goods or other home store.
Kathy, Great pictures! Seven year... I change my bedding out every few years. My love for decorating and design keeps me on the lookout for something new on a regular basis. Love the orange
Hi Janelle ~ Thanks for your comment! I do wind up having to resist getting new bedding when something catches my eye. I might splurge on some pillows though! : )
Great post and I can use those exact words for clients holding on to the old while they really need new. Thanks!
Thanks Nicola! Loving bedding is just part of my loving fabric. If I had the storage, I would probably have several sets, but I change out the pillows and throws (and get reversible comforters/quilts) to appease my need for something different.
